Um 3Uhr morgens in Dubai angekommen, hat der Taxifahrer nach mehrfacher Aussage, dass er nicht wüsste, wo unser Hostel denn bitte sein soll, es doch geschafft uns dort abzuliefern. Im Hostel fühlten wir uns an das ‘Super Dormitory’ in Mumbai erinnert; tagsüber lauter als nachts, ‘Gastarbeiter’ (meist aus Indien, Ski Lanka oder Pakistan – die 87% der Population von den VAE ausmachen) die um 6 Uhr morgens zur Arbeit gehen, wahrscheinlich illegal etc. Naja waren ja nur 2 Nächte da.
In other news, haben wir den Burj Khalifa gesehen und waren ganz schön beeindruckt von der Höhe (828m). Wir waren auch im Dubai Mall, in dem es ein Aquarium und einen Wasserfall gibt lol. Dort ist dann auch definitiv jede Luxusmarke der Welt mit einem Store vertreten und man kann wunderschön beobachten, wie Pärchen, denen etwas weniger Testosteron und Botox auch nicht schaden würde, zwischen all den Läden hin und her wuseln.
Generell, finde ich, dass man extrem sieht, dass die Stadt in den letzten 50 Jahren hochgezimmert wurde, eigentlich aus dem Nichts. Jede Grünfläche muss bewässert werden und viele Menschen arbeiten in der prallen Hitze um das Stadtbild aufrechtzuerhalten. Echt crazy. Aber auch mit fortschrittlichen Seiten wie z.B.free SIM-Karten am Flughafen für Touristen
